New toy

So I had a dream of a new toy- a camera that was fancy but didn't have the fancy price. A photographer friend recommended this fabulous Canon G11 , a fabulous power shot camera that I finally went and got last week. Mind you, I have lots to learn since there are way more settings then I am used to but my first snap shot of this flower is just the beginning of a wonderful friendship between me and my new little G11.

World Cup, fancy that

As I sit here watching the final match of the World Cup I couldn't stop wondering how much money and time was spend in the last month for this great magical time for the football community. Of course the fashion world couldn't resist but to contribute. For the 2010 World Cup, Louis Vuitton has created a fabulous bag/box from which the trophy will be pulled out of and presented to the champions. No football images here, just the classical LV logo to keep things simple and refined.

Still there in spirit

Just one simple thought for the day -- Thinking about my recent time in Paris and how much I miss it today. Especially this day, my day at the Eiffel Tower...it was a magical trip to the top of the amazing city to which I shall return soon.

Coco is the soul of Paris

1909 was the great year when young Coco Chanel opened up her first fashion boutique. Sure she only sold decorative hats to the mistresses of French businessman but we all know that it lead to the great era of Chanel. How lucky was I to come across this amazing shop that had windows full of Vintage Chanel bags... I share my joy with you with a few pictures I managed to take, since the rest of the time I stared as I thought about how I could achieve at least one tenth of this icon's success.

Ibiza, Spain- a party island with style

So I tagged along with a friend to Ibiza, Spain last week. No, I did not know it was a party island and yes I was not prepared! At first I did not hope to see any interesting self expressions since the most obvious wardrobe choice was, well, none at all. The tiniest speedos and topless bikinis were not much too look at (some might say, only fashion wise). I did however see a surprisingly chic trend among tourists and the locals. These amazing " pantalones" that looked fabulous on any shape or size. I snapped a picture of a fellow traveler and then ran off to buy a version for myself.

Carrie, my darling..

I don't know a girl who has not found inspiration in Carrie...She is the woman we all strive to be in one way or another. Independent, beautiful, successful and most importantly.. so fashionably chic! Instyle came out with a fabulous gallery of Carrie's best outfits and I must say it made my day!

Her Roberto Cavalli (1) top was something Carrie found cleaning out her closet and we were so glad she did! With the asymmetrical skirt and the classy up do she is the perfect NYC girl.
Perhaps its because I believe my heart belongs to Paris that my most favorite wardrobe picks were when Carrie was in France...Hello hot boots (2)! And by far the most amazing Sonia Rykiel striped dress (3)- it just screams Parisian fashion. This image makes me want to drop everything and take off to the city of love, eat pastries and smell the incredibly red roses...

Main St.

What are beautiful dress! All I know about it is that it is by a European designer.. that's all I got from its model. Oh well, "you can make it yourself" she said to me. Not sure about duplicating that pattern but I sure can admire these pictures I snapped..

Comfort wear

Its getting warmer out, but I get excited when I wake up and see some clouds outside. It means I can wear my favorite sweater-the one my mom designed and knitted by hand. Its so beautiful I get compliments everywhere I go and I know no one else has this gorgeous piece. I love wearing it with my skinny jeans and I think of my talented mom who worked so hard to give me something one of a kind. Today is one of those days...

stop to smell the flowers...

On my way to work I pass amazing fields of flowers every day...I am sure not too many notice them since they are on the side of pretty busy street and unfortunately people's minds are too preoccupied with millions of other thoughts. Today however, My friend Samantha and I couldn't resist and stopped to pick some of these flowers on our way to visit her grandma. How beautifully they smelled! We couldn't help but to snap some pictures. This is me, stopping to smell the flowers...

Love at first sight....

I saw these pants in the window of American Apparel on Main st, while I was waiting for a friend to meet me for lunch. Its as if my legs stopped listening to me and went inside to say hello to their soul mate- the Chambray Jumper Pant that just came in in two colors.I sometimes cause great pain to those legs of mine by forcing them to run half marathons, so I decided to give in and allow this perfect union. (I spend my last clothing allowance on these babies but after I wore it the next day to a birthday party, the compliments made me forget my buyer's remorse).
Big thanks to the beautiful Ashley who so kindly let me use this image of her from her blog ashley-ringmybell.blogspot.com

Barcelona

Forgive me, American Apparel for borrowing this image from your blog. I will return the favor once I make it out to Spain myself. I couldn't resist- I love the simplicity of the flats paired with the blazer.

Montana ave

How sweet was this girl to let me take a picture of her after I saw her at a boutique on Montana Ave in Santa Monica. First I had to compliment her on her neat tights/skirt ensemble. Then give her major cred for wearing TOM'S shoes. They have been my favorite charitable footwear after I bought my own first pair three years ago. (TOMS.com)

New Endeavour...

After giving it much thought I have decided to change the name of my blog and revamp it! From now on I will post mostly images along with an occasional thought here and there.
I have come to a realization that I have an illness of sorts. No matter where I go or what I do I make a point to analyze every piece of the outfits around me. I dont look at the person's eyes, their walk..I don't notice that they are giving a homeless person a bagel. The first thing I do is look them up and down, pick apart their wardrobe, discuss in my head which colors would have worked better and finally decide if what they are wearing would go with anything in my closet. Sad in a way, I know. But with this epiphany came another great idea. Why not share what I see with others? After all you never know where you might find inspiration and I hope sometimes for you- it will be right here, on this modest blog of mine.

Unexpected Inspiration

As I was driving this morning listening to the radio ( merely for the interviews with famous people, I live vicariously through them!) I got inspired by a very unlikely person. Being interviewed was Anastasia, the famous brow artist. She has build her empire by plucking beautiful women like Jeniffer Lopez and Penelope Cruz. I tried my best not to judge her but 40 dollars for a brow wax seemed a little bit too steep. I must say now- I admire her work and attitude. After listening to her speak I can tell that she is a woman just like us- a woman who wants to help other women feel amazing about themselves. She believes that by taking good care of yourself and your appearance you will feel more confident, look happier and people will see that spark. The radiance comes from within and with just a little help from her team you also feel like the beautiful Goddess you know you are.
After some thinking I realized that I have neglected my beauty routine. After getting married it seemed like Shaving my legs wasn't necessary post bikini season and my hair roots can show 2 inches until I feel pressured to get my hair done. Shame on me, I thought to myself- I am young and beautiful and I need to make sure there is nothing that makes people think otherwise. I feel gorgeous inside and sometimes I forget that I don't always spend enough time with others for them to truly see that. First impressions do last forever- and from now on I am going to make only the most amazing ones!

Phillip Lim

Perhaps I am a tad bit late on this review, since NY Fashion Week was over a while ago and since then we have had Milan and have started Paris. Forgive me, since I don't have the pleasure of actually being in these fashion capitals, I must depend on Videos and images from shows which take a while to scan through.
Alright, enough of the excuses. Phillip Lim was definitely one of my favorites this season! I know, I know- not everyone is a fan of the poncho. However, as you may know I am a sucker for natural colors, browns and greys. Mr. Lim made sure he included all different shades of these hues as well as making the garments loose and flowy. Let's not forget the layers, and lots of them- they don't seem to leave the runways for a few seasons now. Mustard yellow and pink also made an appearance. Purple accents and glitter made it stand out from the usual hippie theme and gold gave it a sense of elegance. As always, Phillip brought in nice romantic motifs that will definitely leave you feeling feminine yet powerful.
